💡い-adj: たかい→たかければ; verb: 飲む→飲めば; な-adj: 静かな→静かなら
〜おかげでThanks to ~ (positive result)
毎日練習したおかげで、上手になった。
Thanks to practicing every day, she got better.
💡Use for positive outcomes only. Contrast with 〜せいで (negative blame)
〜すぎるToo ~ / Excessive ~
この問題は難しすぎて、解けません。
This problem is too difficult, I can't solve it.
💡い-adj stem + すぎる; verb stem + すぎる; な-adj + すぎる
〜てから〜になるIt has been ~ since ~
日本語の勉強を始めてから3年になります。
It's been 3 years since I started studying Japanese.
💡Te-form + から + time period + になる
〜ためにBecause of ~ / For the purpose of ~
雨が降っていたために、試合は中止になりました。
Because it was raining, the game was cancelled.
💡Used for both purpose and reason. Context determines which meaning.
〜価値があるWorth doing ~
この映画は見る価値がある。
This movie is worth watching.
💡Verb dictionary form + 価値がある
Te-form + もらうHave someone do ~ for you
先生に作文を直してもらいました。
I had my teacher correct my composition.
💡〜に + Te-form + もらう = receive the benefit of someone's action
〜ようにSo that ~ / In order to ~ (goal)
試験に合格するように、毎日練習しています。
I practice every day so that I can pass the exam.
💡Use when goal is not fully in your control. 〜ために is for more direct purpose.
〜のにDespite ~ / Even though ~ (unexpected)
熱があるのに、会議に出席しました。
Despite having a fever, I attended the meeting.
💡Expresses the speaker's surprise or complaint about an unexpected result.
〜通りにJust as ~ / Exactly as ~
彼の言った通りにしたら、うまくいきました。
When I did exactly as he said, it worked out.
💡言った通りに = just as said; 予定通りに = as planned
