Causative-Passive: 〜させられる

The causative-passive form combines both causative and passive structures to express being forced or made to do something, often against one's will. It conveys a sense of compulsion or unwillingness.

Key Meaning
Subject は / が + Agent に + Causative-Passive Verb = "[Subject] was made to [do] by [Agent]"

Formation

Group 1 (u-verbs)
書く → 書かせられる
Causative stem + られる (書か+せ+られる). Short form: 書かされる
Group 2 (ru-verbs)
食べる → 食べさせられる
Drop る + させられる (食べ+させ+られる)
Irregular: する
する → させられる
させ + られる
Irregular: 来る
来る → 来させられる (こさせられる)
こさせ + られる

Examples

Joushi ni mainichi zangyou saserareta.
I was made to work overtime every day by my boss.
Kodomo no koro, kirai na yasai wo tabesaserareta.
As a child, I was made to eat vegetables I hated.
Sensei ni rouka ni tatasareta.
I was made to stand in the hallway by the teacher.
Kare wa tomodachi ni iya na shigoto wo yarasareta.
He was made to do an unpleasant job by his friend.
