① Appearance そうだ
"Looks like" / "Seems like" — based on what you SEE
Formation: い-adj stem + そうだ / な-adj + そうだ / verb stem + そうだ
あのケーキはおいしそうだ
That cake looks delicious
② Hearsay そうだ
"I heard that" — based on what you HEARD
Formation: plain form + そうだ (だ after nouns/な-adj)
あしたはあめだそうだ
I heard it will rain tomorrow
